You’ve got the products, you’ve got the site, you’ve got the “customers” that want to become your affiliates and start selling your products and services themselves, now what? If you want to be successful, then you need to make it quick and easy for your affiliates to get to your content and include it on their own sites and services. If they have to spend hours going through forms and hundreds of mouse clicks, they ARE going to get bored and decide it’s not worth the time and effort for the percentage return they are going to get.
You don’t need to ask hundreds of questions about your new affiliate, that can come later, (if you want to offer more or enhanced services later). Your primary objective is to get your new affiliate up and running quickly. You want them on-board and getting your products and services available on their sales channels in as short a time as possible. So what do you need? Well, in this age of ours, all you really need is an email address for your affiliate to enable you to have something to create an electronic link on. However generally, you’d ask for four or five basic bits of information:
– Person or Company Name
– Their unique Affiliate ID
– Maybe a photo or logo
Doesn’t look like much does it? You trap that information and you can give your affiliate access to your products, offers, and content links, enabled with their affiliate identifier AND customise your content pages with their details instantly in just a few clicks. All too often you see companies trying to trap as much information as they can when trying to onboard affiliates. Information they just don’t need at the start point, so here’s the best piece of advice… keep it simple and easy for them!
Ask for the basic bits of information to allow you to provide your content to them and allow them to get up and running as an affiliate to your site as quickly and easily as possible. One of the quickest ways to do this is with Turbo Dynamic URL. A simple registration page allows your affiliate to register their details and get access to web links for your content with their unique affiliate identifier already embedded, then it is all ready to be included on their website with their offers. Better yet, when a visitor clicks on one of those web links, they will see your content but customised with that affiliates details, automatically!
You’ve got your affiliate program up and running, you have your new affiliates actively selling your products and services, revenue is rolling in, life is good! But don’t forget you need to support your affiliates at every step.
A successful affiliate program is built around three key things:
– products and services
– Speed and Integration for affiliates
– Support
Now obviously if you didn’t have good products and services, you wouldn’t even be running or needing an affiliate program. We’ve covered quick onboarding and ease of integration for affiliates in earlier emails. You need to provide support to your affiliates, this could be as simple as providing them an email address through which they can reach you to ask questions that they may have been asked by their customers about your products and services, but also to help them better market and embed your services.
Your affiliates won’t stick with you if you make them feel like they are in this alone while you take the revenue. They are helping you get by selling your products for you. Never forget affiliate selling is a symbiotic relationship between you the vendor and your affiliates, you are both working for mutual rewards, so you both need to ”bring something to the party”. You bring your products, services and support. They bring new sales channels, their own products and services that may add further value to yours and vice versa, more marketing and advertising routes than you may be able to achieve for yourself.
So, don’t forget the essential key, support your affiliates, remember that they are part of your sales organism, and you live and breathe together. Where your rivals may just rely on natural attrition, (new affiliates coming on board to replace dissatisfied leavers), you want to retain your affiliates and keep them happy, supported and feeling valued instead.
A valued affiliate won’t leave and low or no attrition means a successful affiliate program and more revenue for you.
The easiest way to provide support to your affiliates is to take the majority of the work needed to provide your content on their sites and offers from them, and provide it to them. Turbo Dynamic URL for example, is a small piece of software that you install on your website, and it allows affiliates to register with their pre-existing unique affiliate identifiers and get web links for your content enabled for their affiliate ID in just a few seconds.
Additionally, this software provides placeholder for your product pages that you can use to automatically customise your pages with the vendors information, all enabled from within Turbo Dynamic URL and all accessed by the link it provides per offer or product.
